To represent their difference, traditional images of medicine were avoided, instead, a symbol was chosen to represent the abstract idea of their role in promoting a healthy society. The Chiron symbol represents “teacher” and “healer;” it is linked to the centaur from Greek mythology who first taught humanity the healing arts. This logo also looks forward to a possible department name change to the more descriptive “Community Health Studies.”
